Great! I will look forward to this! I am planning a month long trip to Spain in February to work with Dermatologists there. I am sure they will appreciate any fluency I can bring.

Just an idea for a new podcast. It would be helpful to have a dermatologic exam. We could talk about a case of a rash that walked into the ER or office. Also discuss common dermatologic conditions such as acne, eczema, or even skin cancer protection.

Recent email received from a listener: 

"I am a surgeon and would like to have a list of common operations in
Spanish as well as the names of some common surgical instruments - ie
retractor, scalple, forceps, scissors, clamp, suture, needle holder,
sponge, etc.  Thanks."

I'm sure this would be very helpful to those surgeons out there who do medical outreach in Spanish-speaking countries. Thank you for the suggestion, I will try to do this. 

Thanks for the great work. My suggestion is based on taking medical student and resident groups on service trips to Central America for many years. The problems and medical presentations are quite different in rural areas of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador etc. from what we are used to seeing in the USA. It would be great to put together some scenarios approriate in these settings (also very challenging) I'd be happy to help with the content if you're interested. Thank you so much for doing this website!  The podcasts are very useful and your grammar lessons are excellent.  The dialogues are so thorough.  I especially like the feature of being able to read the dialogues as  well.  A couple suggests that I have for dialogues that would help me in my work as a hospitalist:
1) Description of gout (including explaination and treatment plan)
2) Meningitis
3) Atrial fibrillation & arrythmia
4) Asking a history of on a chronic vegetative patient (chronic trach)
i.e. history of cardiopulmonary arrest, accident/trauma, etc

5) Diabetes education with a newly diagnosed or noncompliant diabetic including explaining the disease process and its potential complications if the diabetes is not well controlled including heart attacks, strokes, diabetic neuropathy, kidney disease, amputation, etc.

Recently I had to translate for a pediatric neurologist. Bottom line, the MRI scan showed a 6 cm brain tumor in your son's left temporal lobe and to live he needs surgery to remove it within the next 3 months.  

I thought this might make a podcast with the addition of exams like PET and CT along with surgical procedures like getting a Vagus Nerve Stimulator.  What to do for seizures, autism, etc.  Complications of medicines like Depakote (blood test & liver) 

Also drug usage, coke, pot, etc. How to best speak this language with teens.

Hola Molly.  I am a pediatric practitioner in California.  I would love to have a podcast that has information regarding speaking to parent.  This would be taking a case history (birth history, developmental history, asking any parental concerns) and giving results regarding the child patient.  So basically talking about another individual who cannot answer my questions.

Thanks for the podcast.  It has been very helpful for me as I've been working in a free immigrant clinic.  Do you think there's enough material for a podcast on issues surrounding undocumented immigrants?  I know a lot of this would vary by state, but I would be interested in a general treatment of social security, insurance for kids born in the US to undocumented parents, and ways to say various types of immigration status.

For this test you should not eat or drink for 12-14 hours. Except you can have water or plain black coffee.

Please fill out this form.

Please have a seat.

(for children) Please do not move, be very very still and this will not hurt. You did very good.  Now we are finished.

(for parents) Can you hold him/her in your lap?

I also need a urine sample.  Here is a cup. The bathroom is across the hall over there.

Here is something similar to what you've done earlier. I took this directly from our triage questions:

Does your pain radiate anywhere? Can you point to where it radiates?

Has this happened to you before?

I'm going to take your blood pressure, pulse, and temperature and pulse ox. It shows the percentage of oxygen in your lungs.

Do you take any medicines?

Do you have a list?

Do you have any allergies to medicines?

Do you smoke? Do you drink alcohol, occasionally or regularly?

Do you want to report anyone who is abusing you, either verbally or emotionally?

How much do you weigh?

I noticed that sometimes you use different words in different podcasts to translate the same word or phrase....for example, to tranlsate "congested" you used the word "congestionado" in one podcast and "constipado" in another one. Do these mean exactly the same thing or is there a difference?
